JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – The Jellico Blue Devils are set to play their first-ever basketball game in the state tournament beginning Wednesday night.

Jellico High’s send off Ceremony was held Tuesday at 11:30am in the school auditorium.

Mayor of Jellico, Sandy Terry, caught a photo of this unlikely occurrence in the sky. As balloons were set loose on Tuesday, they formed a “J” in the sky.

The Jellico High School student body and staff bid a fond farewell to the ball team as they depart from the school to Murfreesboro right at noon.

Many smiling faces lined the streets of Jellico.
After paying a visit to Jellico Elementary and taking a tour around the City of Jellico, the state-bound Blue Devils hit I-75 at 12:23pm on Tuesday.
At 1:25pm on Tuesday, the team made a pit stop at the renowned “Big Ed’s Pizza” in Oak Ridge for their pre-practice meal. Afterwards, they headed to Tennessee Tech’s gymnasium, the Hooper Eblen Center, for a brief shoot-around before continuing on to Murfreesboro.
