Expect a cold, rain-free day on Friday

Mild temperatures can be expected today with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Rain chances will increase this afternoon and evening. Winds will also become breezy today, especially in the mountains and foothills where strong gusty winds are expected. A cold front will cross the area early Friday, with cooler temperatures following.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Some of us may see some rain this afternoon. However, we all see rain tonight into early Friday. As notable as the rain will be the wind. A blustery Thursday features more clouds than sun and a high of 57 along with a chance of rain after lunch. The best time for heavy rain and strong wind gusts will be from 9pm through 3am (Friday).

Colder temperatures slide in behind a front on Friday, but temperatures will rebound quickly over the weekend and remain mild next week with mainly dry conditions.

Strong gusty winds up to 55 mph will be possible in the East Tennessee mountains and immediate foothills Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. There will be breezy winds in Campbell County and here on the northern Cumberland Plateau approaching 40 mph gusts.
