LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It was quite the sight. Witnesses said a car went airborne after it veered off East Central Ave. across from the post office and wrecked. The red Hyundai was heading into La Follette when it allegedly left the four lane, traveled through grass, crossed East Elm Street, went up an embankment and airborne landing in a yard, according to officials.

LPD Sgt. Noah Riggs and Officer Austin Tindell inventory items discovered inside this wrecked car.

Two females, one behind the wheel, the other a front seat passenger, were injured. Both airbags deployed. The driver was taken by the Campbell County EMS to the La Follette Medical Center while CC EMS transported the passenger to the LMC helipad. That patient was airlifted to a Knoxville hospital.

This is where the red Hyundai allegedly left the roadway.

First responders with the La Follette Fire and Police Departments also responded to the 12:43pm page.

This is where the wrecked car finally came to an uncontrolled rest; about 100 feet from where it left East Central Avenue.
