Nellie V Allen, age 88 of Knoxville

Nellie V Allen, age 88 of Knoxville, TN passed away February 11, 2026 at home surrounded by family and friends. She was of Christian faith.

Nellie was born in Bricville, TN on March 19, 1937 to the late Melvin Duncan and Martha Harness. Nellie spent her life supporting her family’s military career, traveling the world and making unforgettable memories with her late husband, Sergeant First Class (SFC) Charles F. Allen and their four children.From Germany to the beautiful island of Okinawa, Japan, Nellie turned every duty station into a new family home. With a heart full of love Nellie was the solid rock of her family. Providing support to her children as they navigated the ups and downs of military life. Her selflessness and kindness inspired countless people. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Martha Duncan, husband, SFC Charles F. Allen. Brothers, Joe Duncan, Lawrence Duncan and Houston Duncan. Sisters, Sadie Jenes and Gladys Fately, Granddaughter Lynda Tate. 

Nellie is survived by sons, Rick Allen (Teresa), Tony Alleb and his daughter, Lindsey who lived with her. Daughters, Janet Longoria (Frank), Kimberly Gregg (Roger). Sister-in-law, Jill Duncan and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Additionally, her neighbor and good friend, Nancy Cooper.

Visitation at Hatmaker Funeral Home, 503 S Main St, Rocky Top, TN, 37769 on Sunday, February 15th, 2026, 5:00pm – 7:00pm
