Once light snow began falling and temperatures dipped below freezing, a few accidents cropped up

TOP SNOW: A light dusting of snow covers much of Campbell County to open Tuesday, mainly on car and roof tops and grassy surfaces. Snow accumulations of up to two inches are along some of the highest mountains in Campbell County.

PIONEER, TN (WLAF)- A wreck on the Howard Baker Highway at Stinking Creek Road happened Tuesday at 3:06am. At least one person was injured. The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Campbell EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded.

Officials with Central Dispatch report four wrecks have happened since snow began falling and temperatures dropping on Monday night.

Colder air persists throughout the week. High pressure will bring clearing sky conditions today and Wednesday prior to a strong cold front bringing a return of unseasonably cold air late week. Snow showers taper off this morning with clearing sky conditions as temps do not climb above the 30s, a high of 35. Temps moderate though remain below average (52) with a high of 47 for Wednesday.

A wintry mix of rain and snow returns Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Brisk conditions with snow Wednesday night with a low of 27 linger into Thursday morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-12/03/2024-6AM)
