No one was injured in Tuesday’s pre-dawn fire

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A Fincastle home was destroyed by fire earlier today. It sat along Farris Circle right behind Judy’s Grocery which is on Old Highway 63.

Tuesday morning’s initial reports coming in to Central Dispatch were that a pick-up truck had exploded, caught fire and set the house next to the truck on fire. One firefighter who battled the fire didn’t get the idea the truck exploded though he said it would be difficult to determine just what triggered the fire, a fire he described as a very hot fire. It’s believed the fire may well have started in the garage of the brick home.

The call of the blaze came in to 911 operators at 6:35am not long before morning broke. The thick, black smoke lifted high into the clear sky and could be seen for miles up and down the valley.

You can see the pick-up truck in the drive way in front of the home.

There were no homes close enough to be threatened by the fire though one homeowner was concerned about the big propane tank that sits at the end of her home.

Everyone was able to escape the burning home into the outdoors where it was cold, around the freezing mark. No one was injured.

Fire crews began clean up around 8:30 and cleared the scene about 9am.

Responding agencies include the Campbell County Rural Fire Service, the La Follette Fire Department and Caryville Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and EMS along with LUB. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-02/25/2025-11AM)
