LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “These youngsters have raised birds over the last 23 weeks, and some are members of the Poultry Club,” said 4-H Agent John Taylor. Monday morning under bright sunshine, participants showcased their three best birds for the show in the Tractor Supply parking lot.

Cambre Shanor’s Rhode Island Reds were a first place winner.
Tom Risen, Claiborne County Agriculture Extension Agent, judged the birds. “Weight and spread are what I’m judging,” said Risen.
Bailey Ball took home a lot of ribbons for the birds while Coleman Foust brought home a ribbon for his big sunflower.
Bailey Ball had a banner day.

After all the awards, the chickens were auctioned by auctioneer Bear Stephenson. Carl and Leigh Blankenship won bids on almost every chicken, $1,317 worth all toll. The total sale brought more than $3,500.
