LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- With early voting starting on April 15, WLAF hosted its Candidates Forum on Tuesday night affording voters a chance to meet the candidates either in person or by way of one of WLAF’s 10 media outlets. Candidates for the offices of county mayor, sheriff, school board, state representative, county clerk and county commission candidates attended.

The traditional event was held on the gym stage at the former West La Follette School, now the West End Community Center, on West Beech Street. The live event was made possible by Maria Partin, candidate for county clerk, Skeeter’s Tire Barn on Pinecrest Road and Brian Younce and staff at Beacon Finance on North Tennessee Avenue.

The county mayor and sheriff races were featured with each candidate offering opening and closing comments. Mayor and sheriff candidates were asked questions.

Candidates from other races had two minutes to introduce themselves to the audience. They did not take any questions nor were they asked any questions by the moderators. They had introductory time only.

Here is the order in which the candidates appeared during the forum.

Jerry Brown, candidate for county commission- 2nd district

With a local primary election on the horizon in May, the landscape for this election season is different like no other since 1996; the last time there was a local primary. The ballot for May is set, and we have the match-ups below and which election or elections each candidate will participate.

There are several candidates running unopposed. They are Joe Coker for County Attorney, Monty Bullock for Trustee, Bobby Vann for Circuit Court Clerk, Brittany Miller Foust for Register of Deeds, Jeffrey Miller for District 1 School Board, Ronnie Lasley for School Board District 4 and Crystal Creekmore for District 5 School Board, Barney Cox for 1st District Constable, Don E. Farmer for 2nd District Constable, Johnny Jones for Constable- 3rd District and Dewey Madison for 4th District Constable.

Darryl Chapman for Sheriff- Republican will be on the May ballot
