JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Smokey is the Campbell County Animal Shelter’s longest-stay resident. He thrives in a home setting.

Smokey had a foster earlier this year and she has this to say, “He’s doing amazing: nearly housebroken (only one accident the first day), crates easily, sleeps through the night, and is eager to please. He’s super smart and very trainable—one firm “no” is all it takes. He still loves to play like a puppy with toys and rope, then happily settles in for lap time and cuddles. He rides well in the car, sits quickly for treats, and bonds deeply with his people, always watching you to figure out how to make you happy. He’s about four years old, around 60 pounds, and truly no trouble at all.”

After thinking “oh no” about fostering the shelter’s longest resident, his foster says she couldn’t have been more wrong—he’s an absolute gem.

Smokey needs a cat-free home, meet and greets with other pups is a must. He also is severely allergic to chicken.

The adoption center, animal shelter, is open Tuesday – Saturday, noon to 5:30pm, at 749 Towe String Road, Jacksboro, next to the convenience center. The shelter’s telephone number is 423-566-8018.
