One officer treated at the La Follette Medical Center

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Over the span of about an hour, an alleged intoxicated Jacksboro man went from a verbal altercation with a man and a woman to fighting with Campbell Sheriff’s Deputies. The event unfolded when Deputy Caleb McClure responded to the call of a suspicious man at a residence on Towe String Road.
The deputy arrived at the home at 10:12 am Friday to learn that the suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation with the homeowner and her adult son. As the son drove away from the scene in a pick-up truck, the suspect, later identified as Dalton Massey, allegedly kicked the passenger side door of the truck leaving a noticeable dent that was photographed. After the kick, Massey walked away north on Towe String Road headed toward the four lane.
Sgt. Paul Harmon located Massey near the railroad tracks walking past La Follette Mine Supply. The sergeant ordered Massey to stop and to place his hands behind his back. McClure was nearing the scene when he saw Massey, with only one handcuff on, pivot and elbow strike Harmon in the head and neck, according to the arrest report from the sheriff’s office.
Harmon was holding on to Massey who was actively and aggressively fighting the sergeant, based on the arrest report. McClure arrived, tackling Massey to the ground but was unable to cuff him. That’s when Deputy Kendra Laxton arrived and tased Massey stunning him where he was able to be handcuffed.
The two officers and Massey suffered injuries with both officers bleeding. McClure and Massey refused medical attention while Harmon drove himself to the La Follette Medical Center for treatment.
Massey, 25, of 387 Chambers Road, Jacksboro, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a first responder-results in serious bodily injury, vandalism, resist-stop-frisk-halt-arrest-search, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
This was Massey’s sixth arrest, and he remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond, according to jail records. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/31/2026-6AM)
