Second Chances was a Number 1 hit for Campbell County’s Greg Marlow
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- White Oak native Greg Marlow dusted off a song his brother Warren wrote more than 30 years ago, added some lyrics and recorded it. The Fire Still Burns makes its radio debut this morning over WLAF.
He’s always loved the lyrics to The Fire Still Burns, recorded as a Bluegrass song in the 1990s by New Harvest, a group of which Marlow was a member. Fast forward more than three decades, and Marlow’s added lyrics, music and amazing harmonies from Warren Marlow and Gerald Mullins in what is now a Southern Rock-Country version.
“The song’s timeless. It’s a great message; the writer says how far he’s come to do something for God,” said Marlow. He calls it a really uplifting and encouraging song. “I’m thrilled to introduce this song to a new audience,” said Marlow.

Second Chances spent 19 weeks in the Top 10, several weeks at Number One and was the Number Four song of the year. It just fell out of the Top 10 last week.
The Fire Burns was recorded at Grammy Award Winning David Castle’s studio at Castlewood, Virginia, a couple of hours up the road. “He mixed the harmonies somewhere between The Allman Brothers and Crosby, Stills & Nash. He had all the music ready, and we spent about eight hours in vocal time,” said Marlow.
With the dust off Warren Marlow’s song now, the fire still truly burns. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/14/2025-6AM)
