Local musician Greg Marlow was recognized with a proclamation by the Campbell County Commission on Monday evening.

Commissioner Dewayne Kitts had asked for the proclamation to be written in honor of Greg Marlow and his song ‘Second Chances’ which Marlow recently performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

Marlow, a LaFollette native and a Cancer survivor, competed in a national competition in June 2023 in Owensboro, Ky, as a national semi-finalist in the Inspirational Country Music Association (ICMA) Talent Contest. Marlow entered with his song ‘Second Chances,’ a heartfelt tribute to his battle with Cancer.

His musical talent took him across the country this past year performing, including to Nashville.

Marlow made it as a finalist in the competition and got to live his dream of stepping out onto the Grand Ole Opry Stage on May 29.

“I found myself living a dream I had given up on a long time ago,” Marlow said.

Commissioners recognized Marlow for his musical achievements and for his “amazing testimony.”

Marlow said “God had opened so many doors” for him throughout this whole journey.

“I was up on that stage 13 years to the anniversary of what should have been my death,” Marlow said.

The proclamation declared Tuesday, June 18 as “Dreams Do Come True Day” in Marlow’s honor.

“I am humbled by this and thankful for everyone’s support and for the Good Lord,” Marlow said.
