A NOTE FROM THE GRAND ON CENTRAL: “There is so much good going on in our community, and I want to share all this good with you every Monday here on WLAF in hopes that you will start your week in a grand way making each week a Grand Week,” said Olivia Lobertini, owner of The Grand on Central.
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Coming in January, Second Harvest Food Bank will be adding a new Mobile Pantry location in Campbell County at the LaFollette Church of God. The first distribution day is Tuesday, January 13, at 10:00am. Organizers are asking people to “please arrive when the distribution starts, rather than before the start time.” Participants must bring a photo ID. The food distribution will be in a drive-thru style format.
This distribution will occur on the second Tuesday of each month, according to LaFollette Church of God Pastor Michael Dent, who said this distribution will be similar to the one held at the church for Christmas and will include “fresh vegetables, nonperishable items, meat products as well and maybe dairy.”

A 53-foot semi-truck trailer full of food will be delivered to the church parking lot, and it will be a drive-thru food distribution.
“We will have two lines, one going down one side of the tractor trailer and one going down the other side of the tractor trailer. They will just drive up, and they have to have their photo ID. They will be participating from inside their automobile. We will take their information, there will be a team of people that will load the boxes into their vehicles,” Pastor Dent said.
Like current drive-thru distributions, each Mobile Pantry will end once all allotted food has been given out.

Pastor Dent said volunteers from the church would be working the event and that Second Harvest would be bringing a team to help with the distribution as well.
The Pastor said that this is a huge blessing for the church and the community.
“We are glad to be able to be a part of this; we thank the Lord for the opportunity and for the availability of the products to be able to distribute,” Dent said.
Second Harvest needed another agency to work with in Campbell County and since the church had already had an established relationship with the food bank, it was decided to hold a monthly mobile pantry at the church.
“They decided if we were willing, to work with us, and it is something we are so excited about; it’s something that’s going to help the community, to help the county and we want to do what we can to bring the church outside the walls and not just inside,” Pastor Dent said.

The Pastor said the need for this pantry had been rising over the years. The church has been providing food for the community and distributing food through Second Harvest on a quarterly basis and whenever the food bank would make it available, but having one monthly is going to be a “blessing” for Campbell County.
“The church is in its eighth year providing food for the community, so this is just a continuation and an expansion of our outreach; we are ready to do it, it’s going to be a good year!” Pastor Dent said.
The first distribution is on Tue., Jan. 13, at 10am.
