LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Thursday brought a public hearing and the finish to the June City of La Follette Council meeting in a 4pm meeting of City of La Follette leaders.
On the heels of Monday’s special called meeting where council made dramatic changes to the La Follette Utilities Board of Directors, upwards of 20 LUB employees attended yesterday’s meeting.
The public hearing on approval of the 2026-2027 budget was first followed by the adjourned-in-session meeting from June 9.

On Thursday afternoon, the City of La Follette passed the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The projected revenue, use of funds and transfers in is $19,709,188. The total expenditure, use of funds, and transfers out is $19,080,065. The council passed the budget without a tax increase and employees will receive a two percent raise across the board. All members of the council voted yes on the budget except Councilman Chuck Queener.
The council approved Resolution 2026-08 amending the 2025-26 budget. The council also approved moving forward with a special audit with Pugh and Company for La Follette Utilities. The board reserved the right to cancel the audit once it received a cost for the audit.

Councilman Mark Hoskins made a motion, with Councilman Stephanie Solomon making the second to rescind Resolution 2026-06 for the approval of a 1.2 million dollar capital outlay note for the La Follette Utility Board. The reason the resolution was rescinded was the capital outlay note was longer needed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-06/26/2026-6AM)
