LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The LaFollette Utility Board met Monday evening, approving a “payment in lieu of taxes resolution for the areas the utility provides services. This is an annual resolution the utility board passes and covers Campbell County, Claiborne County, Union County and the City of LaFollette.Â
Also approved was a Public Entity Partners (PEP) Safety Partners matching grant resolution. This is a grant that LUB applies for each year.
The board rejected several bids for the Highway 63 waterline replacement project due to the bids coming in over budget.
The waterline replacement project runs from near the hospital up to Glade Springs.
“They came in over budget and the engineering firm is going to rebid those,” said LUB General Manager Regina Kennedy.
Because of the project having to be bid again, LUB will have a special called meeting on August 18, at 6 pm, for this purpose.Â
In other business, the board reappointed John Snodderly to the LUB board and elected Jay Willoughby as the board chairman, Joe Snodderly as the board vice chairman and Janice Walker as the secretary-treasurer. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-07/30/2025-6AM)
