One driver clocked at 16 MPH in 40 MPH zone, the other at 51 MPH in 30 MPH zone

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- While on routine patrol early Saturday morning, La Follette Police Officer Aidyn Fudala came across two suspected DUI drivers within a couple of hours of each other. The first encounter with a person DUI was at 2:37am, the other DUI arrest came at 4:43am.
The officer estimated a black Nissan Altima was traveling down East Beech Street faster than the posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour. Radar confirmed what he thought, and the car was clocked at 51 MPH. Fudala attempted to catch up with the Nissan and last saw it turning up South Tennessee Avenue.
Sgt. Anthony Mahar joined Officer Fudala in locating the Nissan, and after traveling a series of residential streets, the car pulled in at 1308 Loop Road, Village Apartments. The sergeant conducted the traffic stop, and the officer arrived a couple of minutes later.
On initial contact with the driver and passenger, the policemen allegedly noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. When the passenger stepped out of the Nissan, he was released to go inside an apartment, because he was dangerously intoxicated, according to the police report.
The driver, Jordan Webb, allegedly told the officers that she and the young man were coming from a bonfire where alcoholic beverages were consumed. Webb was asked if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages, and she allegedly said she had had two shots of Vodka. She was asked how long ago and said, “not long”, based on the police report.
Webb allegedly did not perform well during a field sobriety test and consented for a blood sample.
Webb, 22, of 508 South 5th Street-La Follette, was charged with DUI and speeding.
Later Saturday morning, Officer Fudala was conducting stationary radar and did a double take as a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo was heading east on East Central Avenue near the Country Club turn off. The officer clocked the SUV at 16 miles per hour in a 40 MPH zone.
Fudala pulled behind the Isuzu to observe the driving behaviors and to see if the SUV would increase its speed. The vehicle’s speed fluctuated between 13 and 17 MPH.
A check of the license plate allegedly came back to another model of SUV. Because of the registration violation, the officer pulled over the SUV. Where Myers Lane meets East Central Avenue is where the Isuzu stopped.
Fudala made contact with Martin Davis, the driver of the SUV. Davis displayed slurred speech and glassy/watery eyes, according to the police report. Davis allegedly admitted that prior to driving the Isuzu, he removed the tag from his other SUV and placed it on the Isuzu.
Davis consented to a field sobriety test on which he performed poorly. He later refused to give a blood sample.
Christopher Martin Davis, 56, of 223 Scarlett Drive-La Follette, was charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, improper use of vehicle registration, unregistered vehicle on a highway and failure to exercise due care.
