K-9 Goose assists officers

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- LaFollette Police Department Narcotics Detective Noah Riggs saw James Eric Letner stop in the road on South Ave. near Canyon Lane on Thu., Aug. 21, around 5 pm. Letner stopped to pick up a male and female passenger. He traveled for approximately two city blocks, during this time Riggs noticed they did not put on their seatbelt.

According to a report from the LaFollette Police Department Riggs stopped the vehicle on North 19th street and spoke with Letner. During this time Riggs requested ID from all of the vehicle’s occupants and back up Officer Robert Cobb and K-9 Goose arrived. Cobb ran K-9 Goose for a free air sniff around the vehicle where he made a positive alert.

Officers found in the vehicle a black zip container in the center console that contained two glass pipes with burn marks on them and a small baggie with a crystal like substance in the baggie with an approximate weight of .25 grams. Officers also found two yellow rope tourniquets and multiple cotton filters.

Letner, 44, 611 Cherry Street, LaFollette was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession schedule II (Meth). (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/01/2025-6AM)
