Lois Haley Ballard, age 90, of LaFollette and Columbus, OH, passed away on July 7, 2024. She was born on August 8, 1933, in Springfield, Massachusetts to parents Margaret and Arther W. Haley. Lois graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1951. She then went to Rhode Island School of Design and graduated in apparel design in 1955 with a B.F.A. degree. She was a National Honor Society Student. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio, in the Summer of 1954 when her father, an electrical engineer, was transferred to the new Westinghouse Engineer plant in Columbus, Ohio. Lois taught art for two years in the art department at Ohio State University. Lois worked for many years in the advertising department of the Lazarus Store in Columbus, Ohio as an artist. She also worked in the art department at the Dispatch. She was married to John Ballard on October 12, 1963.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Haley, and Carol of Massillon, Ohio. Also, by her close friend of many years, Gilbert Wyrick, along with many nephews and nieces.
Member of many groups, N.H.A.P.W., A.A.W.W., and Quintet Sentinel Quilters, and also several sewing craft groups. Lois said to Gilbert if you take me to New England for my Classical High School 51st Reunion in the summer to see her high school friends I will buy you lunch. Well, who could pass up an offer like that? And off they went in the RV to New England. The reunion was in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Lois and Gilbert have traveled in the RV for sixteen years to many state parks and Bulow Campground in Florida for the winter and enjoyed every minute of it.
Visitation for Lois will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD Co. Northwest Chapel, 2990 Bethel Rd. in Columbus, OH. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Columbus, OH.
