CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- While many were still sleeping Saturday morning, over 100 runners laced up their shoes and ‘conquered the bluff.’

In an effort to raise money for the Campbell County Relief Fund, the organization hosted a run that took runners up Eagle Bluff. Those who preferred to support the cause without running made a donation.

“We had over 100 runners sign up for the event and several dozen others sleeping but supporting,” said Adam Bullock, CCRF chair. “The board heard nothing but positive comments in the unique race.”

Following the event, runners asked if the event would be held next year.

“For an inaugural event, it couldn’t have gone better,” Bullock said. “This year the Campbell County Relief Fund will award $4,500 in scholarships. I would personally like to thank the immediate past chairman Logan Hickman for his outstanding service to not only this race, but for his service to the board as well.”

Jake Pierce was the first to “Conquer the Bluff” during Saturday morning’s event with a time of 35:39.

Marsha Morton was the first female finisher with a time of 39:44.
