CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.
Lisa Reaves is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the week. She teaches 2nd grade at Valley View Elementary School.

Reaves grew up in Anderson County and attended South Clinton Elementary, Clinton Jr. High and graduated from Clinton Sr. High School. She graduated of Berea College in 1992 with a BA in Studio Art and received her Elementary Teaching Certification from UNC-Wilmington and her MAed in Curriculum Studies from University of the Cumberlands.
Reaves told a little about herself and her family.
“I have three grown children (Shelby Thomas, Mollie Wheeler and Jacob Wheeler) and one granddaughter. I also have one dog (a 92 lb. Great Pyrenees named Rosie) and 2 cats, (Charlie and Lola). I spend a lot of time outside (when it’s not 110 degrees) and enjoy traveling. I love to go exploring, but anywhere where there is a beach is my happy place,†Reaves said.
She currently teaches 2nd Grade at Valley View Elementary.
“I have, however, previously taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades. This is my 21st year teaching in Campbell County Schools. This will be my 5th year at Valley View. I taught the previous 16 years at East La Follete/La Follette Elementary School,†Reaves said.
She found her inspiration to become a teacher to help others.
“I wanted to become a teacher so that I could help not only my children, but others become successful in their lives. I want to make it possible for all students to achieve any goal they choose,†Reaves said.
She also said she had educators of her own that stood out to her while she was in school.

“The teachers that I remember the most were the teachers that encouraged me to push through struggles and always do my best. Mrs. Pat Stonecipher (elementary school) and Mrs. Carol Pruitt (high school) were two of these teachers,†Reaves said.
She also said she loves the atmosphere where she works.
“The thing I love most about Valley View is the Family atmosphere/environment. Everyone is so kind and everyone treats you like you are life-long friends.â€
