La Follette Fire Department first responders use ladder truck to fetch an injured man from a roof

Firefighters with the La Follette Fire Department work to lower their rooftop patient down to a waiting Campbell County EMS Unit.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- This story is from January 11, 2025- With snow falling and temperatures of 27-degrees, first responders with the La Follette Fire Department rescued an injured man from the roof on top of the Lowe’s building Friday afternoon.

At about 12:45pm, the call of an injured man on top of the Lowe’s building came in to La Follette Dispatch. It was reported that the man was working on heating and cooling units on the roof and fell injuring himself.

The LFD ladder truck continues to pay dividends.

“Firefighter Daniel Lawson was first on the roof climbing up a barrel ladder to get to the patient. We set up the ladder truck so we could safely bring him off the roof,” said La Follette Fire Chief Jimmy Pack.

“We packaged the patient at about 1:15pm to bring him off the roof. We carried him in a Stokes basket down the ladder,” said the chief. The man, believed to be suffering from a couple of fractures, was transported by Campbell County EMS to the La Follette Medical Center.

The snow storm had just settled in Friday afternoon when first responders and firefighters were paged out in sub-freezing temperatures.

LFD Firefighters from the “A” Shift were on the scene within a handful of minutes and were able to carry out the rescue and be back in service in less than an hour. “I’m very proud of my firefighters. Training goes a long way, because this was a textbook operation,” said Chief Pack. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/11/2025-7AM)

  1. I’m confused , are you sure it was January 11, 2025? This is December and it’s almost gone so I was wondering if the date was right. I just didn’t think you would wait that long to report it. If I’m wrong I’m very sorry but I was just wondering. Thank you for all you do. I appreciate you all.
