A single vehicle accident turns into a three vehicle accident near La Follette Middle School

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Around 9pm there was a wreck in front of Faithway Assembly of God Church Tuesday night resulting in a widespread power outage. East Central Avenue was also temporarily shut down at the post office-La Follette Middle School corner.
Initially, an eastbound sedan on East Central Avenue went over the embankment at the church and struck a pole knocking power lines down across the avenue and damaging the power pole across the four lane, according to officials. It was said the driver of the car was transported to the La Follette Medical Center, treated and released.

Two other vehicles soon became involved in the accident. One vehicle hit the power lines doing damage to the vehicle while another vehicle struck the upper half of the power pole that was in the road.
For a while, traffic heading into La Follette was detoured onto Foot Hills Drive and around coming out on North Avenue at the hospital. East bound travelers were brought through the post office drive and out on Foot Hills Drive and then up Back Valley Road and out onto the four lane near the Ball Farm Event Center.

Power was out for 1,195 customers, according to LUB officials. LUB crews worked to restore power and temporarily secured the pole on the corner of Foot Hills Drive and East Central.
“Just wanted to say thanks to our electric department employees that work thru the night when our electric goes off. Great job tonight, THANK YOU,” said Chester Adkins, an LUB customer, in an email to WLAF.

La Follette Fire and Police responded along with Campbell EMS and LUB. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/03/2025-6AM)
