LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- LaFollette Library has started its first ever Junior Librarian Program.

LaFollette Librarian Nancy Green said she was excited to introduce the very first ever Junior Librarians for the LaFollette Public Library for September.

“They are brother and sister Zeke and Finn Stiner and are the children of Brance Stiner and Alise Stiner. They are avid readers and are so excited to share their favorite books with you.  We are very excited to begin this new venture!  Come by and check out their display at the LaFollette Public Library,” Green said.

Zeke’s said reading and baseball are among his favorite hobbies and that he really enjoys checking out books from his local library. Some of his favorite books include Baseball Genius and The Boy Who Saved Baseball. Other favorite books include the Hardy Boys books, especially The Crooked Arrow. Another suggested reading by Zeke is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne.

Stop by the library to check out Finn’s display.

Finn said her hobbies include “dancing, playing, pottery, reading and going to the library.”

A few of her recommended books include Owl Diaries: Eva’s New Pet By Rebecca Elliot and The Puppy Place: Bitsy by Ellen Miles and Charlott’s Webb by E.B White.

To check out their full listings of favorite books and why, stop the library and check out their display during the month of September.

Zeke Stiner is a Junior Librarian for the month of September at the LaFollette Public Library.

Green said she is “always looking for ways to bring more people into and more interest in the library.”

“So, I thought, having young people tell me what their favorite books are and their favorite genre of books and writing it out for me, they would become the junior librarians for the month,” Green said.

Zeke and Finn are “very avid readers, and they were thrilled to get to do this.”  Green posted the Junior Library program on Facebook and their mother reached out to Green.

“When they saw my post on Facebook, their mother Elise contacted me immediately, and then she brought them and to the library on Monday morning after I’ve posted that on Friday afternoon, and that’s how they became the junior librarians for the month of September,” Green explained.

A different young person will be the October Jr. librarian.

Stop and check out what Zeke’s favorite reads and recommendations are!

“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and will build up a lot of interest,” Green said.

Be sure to stop by the library and check out the full list of Zeke and Finn’s favorite books!

Author’s note: I, too, read every single Hardy Boy’s Books at the LaFollette Library when I was young and all the Nancy Drew’s too! I own them all now and still read them! Thanks, Nancy, for fostering a love of reading in our county! (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/12/2025-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF LAFOLLETTE LIBRARIAN NANCY GREEN)
