By CLAYTON CARROLL
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Your Lady Cougar Softball Squad, 3 and 13 on the year, welcomed the Gatlinburg Pittman Lady Highlanders to Arlis Chapman Field for Cancer Awareness Night on Monday.
On the mound for Campbell was Keira Bierdemann. To say she pitched a great game would be a vast understatement. Bierdemann threw seven shutout innings without eclipsing the 100 pitch mark. She gave up only three hits.
The Lady Cougars would only need one run for the “Wâ€. They did that, plus two more.Â
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Amber Morris reached third base after the G-P outfield muffed an easy fly ball. Morris then later scored on a throwing error.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth, Campbell looked to provide Bierdemann a couple more insurance runs; and they did just. After Lakin Smith hit a single, Jenna Leigh Pinkston scored due to interference called on the Lady Highlander fielder. Jenna Yancey would cross home plate on a Lady Cougar double steal attempt for the third run.
Bierdemann would shut the game down in the top of the 7th giving the Lady Cougars their fourth win of the season.
The Lady Cougars are set to play Catholic on Tuesday at Arlis Chapman field at CCHS. First pitch is at 5:30. Clayton Carroll and Jake Monday send you all of the coverage over the WLAF Doyle’s Tire Sports Network. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/30/2024-6AM)
