Lady Cougars fall short at Oliver Springs

Halftime lead evaporates as Campbell turnovers prove costly

OLIVER SPRINGS, TN (WLAF) – For the second time this season, the Lady Cougars and Lady Bobcats of Oliver Springs met on the hardwood, this time at OS. The Orange-and-Blue won the first meeting 46-43 at Brown Gym dropping Campbell to 4 & 5 on the season.

After the first half at Oliver Springs, the Lady Cougars narrowly led 19-18. It was a back-and-forth, turnover heavy battle.

In the second half, Oliver Springs blitzed out to a ten-point lead, led in large part by Kylie Barger, who dropped 29 points on Tuesday evening.

Campbell made a run, but it was quickly answered by another Oliver Springs run. The Lady Cougars were handed a 56-49 defeat.

Preslee Chapman led the Orange-and-Blue with 21 points. Kaylee Albright, your Kitts Paint and Body Player of the Game, tallied nine points. Addy Coleman finished with eight points. Taraji Abernathy and Karlie Allen scored five points a piece. Alexa York, in her first game back from injury and her first game of her high school career, ended with one point.

“I don’t think we represented Campbell County the way I wanted us to represent tonight,” said Campbell Head Coach Jason Kitts. “We could make excuses all we want, but truth is we are a 4A program, and we’re gonna come out Friday, and you will see a different group.”
