Campbell 67 Carter 22

By Clayton Carroll

CIRRYTON, TN (WLAF)- From Sharp Gymnasium at Gibbs High School on Tuesday, the Lady Cougars faced off against Carter. Campbell entered 2 and 0 and Carter the opposite, 0 and 2.

Campbell blitzed out to an early lead and never looked back.

As a matter of fact, the Lady Cougars extended their lead as the game went on.

It was 21-6 after the first quarter. At halftime, it was 28-11 Lady Cougars.

After outscoring the Hornets 18-6 in the third quarter and 21-5 in the fourth, the Lady Cougars comfortably led 67-22 when the final horn sounded.

Campbell Head Coach Jason Kitts thought everybody played well Tuesday, and that it was good to get everybody playing time and the starters rested up for the back-to-back games coming on Friday and Saturday.

Saylor Hutcheson, the “Mills Door and More Player of the Game”,  really shined for Campbell County, leading the way with 13 points. Lacey Pemberton was right behind her with 12 points.  Preslee Chapman had her best scoring night of the season so far with 10 points. Bella Lester tacked on nine points. Carley Kitts scored eight, as did Reagan Davis. Karlie Allen finished with five points, Destiny Rutherford rounded out the scoring column with two points.

Jayden Kitts and Aleah Woodson both played but did not score. However, both had key moments on defense.

Elsewhere in the Nexgen Athletics Thanksgiving Classic at Gibbs, Morristown East beat William Blount 47-31. What does that mean? Well, that means Campbell will play the Lady Hurricanes of East Friday at 3pm in the semifinal of the winners bracket.
