La Follette Public Works crews clearing trees this week

Along and near South 5th Street/Depot Street

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- There haven’t been any sightings of the giant lumberjack and folk hero Paul Bunyon. However, WLAF’s Charlie Hutson was on the case, just in case. His investigation only found crews with City of La Follette Public Works chopping down trees.

The section of street city officials once wanted to remove is now almost clear of any trees on either side. It’s that connector street joining West Central Avenue and West Beech Street and also divides Liberty Park and Seargeant Park. Some call it Depot Street. Others say it’s South 5th Street.

The street remains closed and likely will not reopen until sometime Friday.
