Four candidates running for mayor and five candidates seeking a council seat in La Follette’s November election

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On Wednesday, Bufford T. Proffitt requested a petition to run for mayor of the City of La Follette while incumbent Wayne Kitts turned in his petition on Wednesday to be on the ballot for councilman. The La Follette election field of candidates is becoming a bit crowded with now four candidates vying for mayor and five candidates going after two council seats. Election day is Tue., Nov. 5.

Monday, June 17, was the first day to pick up a petition to run in the November election, and 14 petitions have been requested so far. The deadline to qualify is Thu., Aug. 15, at noon.

ELECTION INFORMATION FOR NOVEMBER 2024 RACE

November (incumbent)

The City of La Follette and the Town of Caryville have seven combined posts to be filled. Caryville will elect a mayor (Bobby Stooksbury) and three aldermen; Ward 1 (Patrick Pebley), Ward 2 (Eric Jones) and Ward 3 (Lloyd Lawson). Voters in the City of La Follette will elect a mayor (Cliff Jennings) and two council members (Phillip Farmer and Wayne Kitts). Incumbents are in parentheses.

Caryville Mayor Bobby Stooksbury announced in May that he will not seek re-election.
