‘I have more meth in my sock’- Anthony Sammons

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- It was around 8pm Wednesday when La Follette Police Officer Tavian McCullah  was conducting a routine property check of the East Beech Street walking area.

Near the end of the trail, the officer noticed two individuals coming from the end picnic table. One of the individuals was Anthony Sammons, and he was showing signs of intoxication as he struggled to keep his head up and was driving his bicycle in an uncontrolled manner, according to Officer McCullah’s police report.

“I began to speak with the two individuals and noticed Sammons speech was slurred,” stated McCullah in his report. When the officer allegedly saw a knife on the front of Sammons bike, he conducted a pat-down for weapons. McCullah asked Sammons if he had anything on him that would poke him, and Sammons allegedly said he had a syringe in his pocket and was unsure if it was capped.

Officer McCullah was unable to find the syringe in the pocket Sammons said it was in, but the officer located four syringes in Sammons right front pocket, based on the report. As McCullah continued searching Sammons, he allegedly located a small glass container containing a white powdery substance believed to be Methamphetamine as well as a black hard case with more syringes and a glass pipe.

Sammons was placed under arrest and transported to the Campbell County Jail. “Upon arrival at the jail, Sammons informed me that ‘he had more meth in his sock’,” stated Officer McCullah.

Sammons, 29, 4415 Pound Creek Road-La Follette, was charged with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession/manufacture/sell/delivery of schedule II (meth).

The booking into the county jail was the 40th for Sammons, according to jail records. Sammons remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond awaiting a Sep. 9 court date. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/29/2025-6AM)

  1. Time to stop letting our officers place themselves in danger like this only to let the criminals get away with their crimes!!😡 40th time this person has been booked. Thats insane!! Put punishment in place and stop the abuse of the police and the public’s safety!!!!!

  2. That’s just mind blowing that he’s been arested 40 times and is still walking the streets.
