JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County High School senior and Future Farmer of America Regional Officer Isaac Jones spoke before county commissioners during the public input portion of Monday’s commission workshop. Jones informed commissioners he was running for FFA state office in two months and thanked them for their continued support to FFA.
Jones spoke to commissioners around a year ago to announce he was running for FFA regional office and was back on Monday evening to announce his plan to run for FFA State officer.
“I will be in front of 30,000 FFA members on the stage in two months putting my name in the ring for that office, it’s a lot like regional, but I would represent the whole state,” Jones said, adding that it had never been done before in Campbell County.
He informed commissioners that FFA was the largest youth organization in the nation with over one million members.
“We are very blessed to have a chapter here in Campbell County,†Jones said.
He recently went to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention and told commissioner it had a huge impact on him.
“For a small-town country boy like me to go to Indianapolis and be in front of 70,000 members. I actually got selected, as one of 150 out one million members to go into the National FFA Newsroom and Press Box. It is held in the Indianapolis Colts Stadium, it’s pretty neat up there, it’s where the coaches would sit in an NFL game and I got to sit up there and run a convention and I was very blessed for that,†Jones said.
Jones spoke before the commission the first time when he was in the fifth grade and has continued to build his public speaking skills over the years. He has addressed commissioners in the past about the importance of “maintaining farms and agriculture in Campbell County,†something that he is “passionate about.â€
County Commissioners wished him the best of luck in running for state FFA office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/14/2025-6AM)
