JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.
Campbell County High School’s Jaycie Witcher is Eagle Tire Pros Educator of the Week. She teaches Animal Science at Campbell County High School and is in her first year as an educator.

She shared a little about herself and her career so far as an educator in Campbell County.
“I just got married in May, so my students call me Mrs. Witcher. I have lived here my whole life and graduated from Campbell County High School. After high school, I attended Roane State Community College where I earned my A.S. in Agriculture,” Witcher said.
After Roane State, she transferred to the University of Tennessee–Knoxville and graduated with her B.S. in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications.
According to Witcher, several educators have inspired her along the way to her career path.
“Mr. Morton, my Greenhouse Management teacher in high school, had a huge impact on me. He pushed me to do my best and saw potential in me that I didn’t even recognize at the time. My mentor teacher, Ms. Patti Keep at Halls High School, also encouraged and supported me as I prepared for a career in teaching,” Witcher said.
Ironically, Witcher said she didn’t originally intend to go into education.
“Currently, I teach Animal Science at Campbell County High School, and this is my first year in education. Before teaching, I worked at Deerfield in the vacation rental and resort office throughout college, where I was fortunate to work with some of the best people. Interestingly, I never thought I would be a teacher, but after taking Greenhouse Management in high school, I realized this was what I wanted to do. I wanted to surround myself with great people and be the kind of teacher that Mr. Morton was for me,” Witcher said.

Her favorite part of this job is “definitely the students” as well as where she works.
“They are so amazing and funny, and every day with them is different. I love those moments when I’m teaching a lesson and see them make connections and truly understand the concept, watching them gain confidence with each subject is incredibly rewarding. I also really enjoy working at the school I once attended. Knowing many of the teachers already has made the transition easier, and the staff here is so supportive—it truly feels like a community.”
