James Ray Pinkston of Jacksboro, Tennessee and previously Strongsville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. At 82 he was born March 7, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father Fred Nathaniel Pinkston, his mother Rosie Lee Buckner (Vaughn), and his step-father Everett “Buck” Buckner.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Carolyn Pinkston and his sons Jeffery Scott (Christine) and James Eric (Jennifer), and his daughter Jill (Chris) Corrigan and his wonderful sister Patricia (Charles) Talley. He rejoiced in his grandchildren Justin, Jacob, Jordan, Michael, Cara, Savannah, Brianna, Robert, Jenna Leigh, Mollie.
Jimmy was an exemplary husband and father demonstrating daily his faith in Jesus Christ as an active member serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The family invites you to the receiving of friends on Saturday, February 21st 2026 at 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 215 Wildwood Circle, LaFollette, Tennessee. Directly following at 11:00 am will be the funeral. The family will then proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery for the internment.
