JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Town of Jacksboro is working on getting a better Insurance Services Office (ISO) fire rating for the town. Yesterday afternoon at the monthly meeting of the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Fire Chief Jason Shetterly spoke to the board about improving the rating. The first step for improving the rating would be to hire additional fire fighters. Shetterly told the board he would like to hire five additional auxiliary fire fighters. The board approved Shetterly moving forward with hiring the auxiliary fire fighters.

An ISO score, also known as a Public Protection Classification (PPC) score, is a rating given to municipal fire departments that evaluates their ability to offer adequate fire protection to the communities they serve.

In other business, the board approved the promotion of Officer Kris Gulliver to assistant police chief. With the promotion he will receive a pay raise to $23/hr. The board approved a destruction order for unusable office equipment.
