Hear every Eagle football game over WLAF

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On a warm Tuesday afternoon at Gibson Field, the Cody Parker led Jacksboro Middle Eagles held practice, with the first game for the Blue-and-Gold less than a week away.

On Tue., August 20, at 6pm, Jacksboro heads to Kingston to battle the Cherokee Yellow Jackets in a rematch of last years’ state championship game; one in which Jacksboro fell 36-18.

Jacksboro lost a lot from last years team, with departures such as QB Cooper Brayman, and receivers Max Boshears and Braydon Graham.

However, the Eagles are uber-talented at mainly two positions; the guys on the line and running back. The must-know name in the backfield is Jack Sexton. Also a couple players to keep an eye on are Thomas Wilson and Avander Demott, two players Coach Parker thinks will have a very active role in the Eagles’ success.

Expect to see a ground-and-pound offense, much of like what we will see on The Hill for Cougar games. Coach Parker said that the Wing-T formation is what his players will see when they leave the middle school, and he wants to instill that into them now.

Joining Head Coach Cody Parker on staff are Skyler Kirby, Jeremy Goins, Michael Brown, Scott Webb, and Devon Jones.

Clayton Carroll is set to bring you coverage of the Blue-and-Gold this season over WLAF. Alongside Carroll in the opening game at Cherokee is former JMS and current Cougar #55 Robert Kirby on color.

Also joining the broadcast team this season is another former Eagle and Cougar star. Peyton Ferguson, who is apart of the 1,000 yard club at Jacksboro, will be on the broadcast this year for the WLAF-Doyle’s Tire Sports Network. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/14/2024-6AM)
