JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – On Thursday night, the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen met for the monthly meeting with a short agenda.
Recently, the town talked about making improvements to the town’s only park, Bill Robinson Memorial Park, which is on Main Street. Caryville Jacksboro Utilities has agreed to help the town with the improvements, and Thursday night the board approved their assistance. One of the improvements previously discussed was a half court basketball court.
The hiring of a new town office clerk was approved. Elaine Morton was hired as clerk at $16 an hour. The board approved increasing Dan Gearing’s hourly rate to $18 an hour. Gearing is slated to take the place of the town recorder Emma Caldwell when she retires.
Christmas bonuses for full- time employees have been approved. They will receive $300 plus $25 a year for each year they have worked.
The guardrail at Liberty Street needs to be replaced. The board approved Tennessee Guardrail completing the work for $8,500. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/07/2023-6AM)
