UPDATE 6/21/2024: TBI releases the name of inmate who died Thursday at the county jail

JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Another inmate has died at the Campbell County Jail. Details are scarce at this time as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is still on the scene. Mikaila Cherokee Perciful, 26, of Knoxville died in custody Thursday. The investigation is ongoing.

Reports indicate an ambulance was sent to the jail shortly before noon Thursday. “One individual is involved,” said Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton. “It was not drug related.”

Aside from that Barton said it was too early to release additional details. “It is a tragedy someone lost their life,” he said.

In April, two inmates at the county jail died within 10 days of each other. Those investigations are ongoing.

  1. There is a jail committee made up of County Commissioners. They need to demand answers as well.
