JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- An inmate at the Campbell County Jail was assaulted last night. His injuries were to the extent that he was flown to UT Medical Center for treatment.

He is now back in the county jail.

The attack occurred around 9pm last night, according to Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton. After receiving treatment, the inmate returned to the jail just before 4am

The investigation is ongoing, but charges will be levied, Barton said.

Two, possibly three, inmates are facing assault charges, he said.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
