On Monday at school dismissal time, police received multiple calls about a reckless driver

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Calls to 911 about a reckless driver came in from drivers in the La Follette School Zone, at the middle and elementary schools, on Monday afternoon. Callers told 911 operators that a pick-up truck was swerving in and out of traffic, according to La Follette Dispatch communication.
“I was passing Dunkin’ when I first saw the suspect driving toward Jacksboro on the four lane. He was in the left lane and switched lanes, fishtailing at a high rate of speed. I was able to perform a traffic stop in the Tractor Supply parking lot,” said La Follette Police Narcotics Sgt. Noah Riggs.

Riggs made contact with the driver of the white Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, a Hispanic male who said he was from California. The driver of the Chevy was identified as 28-year old Daniel Zacarias Pineda-Araniva.
The suspect, the lone occupant in the truck bearing Claiborne County plates, was belligerent and uncooperative, according to Riggs. Pineda-Araniva, a convicted felon with a history, is facing multiple charges in Campbell County.

Daniel Zacarias Pineda-Araniva, 28, 365 Hunley Road, Speedwell, was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, DUI, violation of the implied consent law, violation of the open container law and resisting arrest.
Pineda-Araniva was placed under arrest and transported to the Campbell County Jail. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/13/2026-6AM)
