Hottes Arlington DeHays of Cygnet, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on August 24, 1933, to Leslie “Bud” and Dorothy DeHays, he lived a full and adventurous life.
A graduate of Ohio State University and a member of Delta Upsilon, DeHays established a successful career in Industrial Design, including a tenured professorship at Bowling Green State University. His innovative work is evident in notable projects such as Arlington Woods in Rudolph, OH and contributions to the Golden Bear golf course facilities In Palm Beach Florida. Beyond his professional accomplishments, DeHays was a man of diverse interests. As a skilled photographer and painter, he captured the beauty of the world through his lens and in his minimalist canvases. His passion for travel, aviation, and sailing fueled his adventurous spirit. As a licensed pilot, he experienced the thrill of flight from the cockpit of his own plane. A daring adventurer, he also embarked on a transatlantic sailing voyage, expanding his horizons and deepening his connection to the sea.
He is survived by his daughters, Tamra Joyner, Pamela Malone-DeHays and Jennifer White; sister, Nancy Hepburn; grandchildren Jessica Joyner, Cody Joyner, Jason Malone, Cory Malone, Kylie Malone, Taylor Robinson, and Ryan White; great-grandchildren Cameron Lee, Celeste Lee, and Carter Robinson; and numerous extended family members and friends.
The family has entrusted the care of Hottes Arlington DeHays to Martin Wilson Funeral Home “Where Families Matter Most.”
