The Cove Lake State Park kiddie pool was busted up.

This is the main pool looking toward the deep end, and you can see a section of the pump house area.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- On a Sunday evening out and about, I took a trip to Cove Lake State Park in beautiful Caryville Tennessee. I was curious to see how the pool demo is coming along. Since my last visit, a lot of concrete has been busted up and a lot of steel ripped out, but it appears there is a lot left to do.

The demolition work creates piles of steel and concrete.

If you go by to take a picture of history in the making, the Cove Lake Park rangers wish to remind you to DO NOT cross the safety barrier line. Capture your image on the outside of the safety barrier.

This is a look from the lake bank of Cove Lake State Park.

On another note. If you go down to the picnic area, you can literally see the bottom of the lake. With the recent drought conditions and extremely high temps, the water level is very low, only a small stream exists up near the observation tower just beyond the cul-de-sac.

Only a small stream flows on the upper part of Cove Lake.

This is a look back toward  the observation tower.

And the latest weather forecast doesn’t show any sign of relief. One lady, taking some pictures said, “I’ve never seen this before. It makes for a very unusual picture.”

It’s been a while since Cove Lake looked like this.

  1. So sad to see the pool busted up. So many people have fond memories of teenage years spent at the pool, swimming, playing ping pong, eating food from the concession stand and hanging out with friends. And now it’s going to be a nature area. I thought the whole park was a nature area….
