No burn permits will be issued for Campbell County until further notice
CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Campbell County and East Tennessee Fire Danger is HIGH for Thursday, April 16, 2026. Due to continued dry conditions, no burn permits will be issued in the East Tennessee District today, according to the Tennessee Division of Forestry.
Minimum relative Humidity value predictions vary from 28% in the Southern Appalachian area to 40% in some valley areas. However, winds will increase as a front enters the area Thursday afternoon into tonight with sustained winds out of the West/Southwest at 11-16 mph and gusts over 25 mph across the area. Fuels continue to be dry with 10 HR forecasting minimum 9-10% and 100 HR fuels showing a minimum 10-14%.
A round of light showers will pass through tonight, but predicted amounts are varied with 0.01 to 0.25 expected across the area. A second round of showers is expected Saturday afternoon which may bring amounts between 0.25 to 0.50 inches across East Tennessee.
