JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Tuesday’s job fair at TCAT Jacksboro focused on the Healthcare industry and showcased 28 local vendors representing potential employers and service organizations such as Tennova-LaFollette Medical Center, the Campbell County Health Department, Community Health of East Tennessee and many others.

The Health Care Job Fair was held at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jacksboro campus on Tuesday from 9am to noon and was hosted through a partnership between TCAT, the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce and County Mayor’s office in an effort to “build Campbell County’s workforce.” This is the third year in a row for this “important community event.”

President of TCAT Jacksboro Dr. Debbie Petree said hosting events like Tuesday’s job fair “connected job seekers with employers” which fit perfectly with TCAT’s mission statement of “student success and workforce development.”

Petree said the event had a “great response from health-care employers and from students.” Just about all the TCAT students had an opportunity to visit with health-care representatives. Campbell County High School Health and Science classes, as well as Jellico High School’s Health and Science students also attended the job fair.

CASA of Campbell Director Jan Jones and CASA Advocate Coordinator Milessa Dunlop represented CASA at Tuesday’s Health Care Job Fair at TCAT Jacksboro.

“We had 28 different employers show up to represent and discuss career opportunities with students and all who were interested, this shows them what opportunities are available in the community. We not only had our students going by and seeing what jobs are available, but we also had several members of the public come by who were in job search mode; it’s just been a great day all the way around,” Petree said.

Events like these also “show what TCAT Jacksboro does and connects area employers with potential employees.”

“We want to make sure Campbell County residents know Campbell County jobs are available,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Missy Tackett.

According to County Mayor Jack Lynch, statistics show many current jobs are in the factory and healthcare settings and there is a “definite need for additional health care workers.”

“We were very pleased with the turnout of 28 employers and multiple job seekers; this is about building the workforce,” Lynch said.

The idea to hold the health fair “came out of the Business and Workforce Development Committee,” according to Campbell County Deputy Mayor Randy Brown, who said Tuesday’s event was “well attended and wonderful for the students and the community.”

“A job fair was the perfect way to connect job seekers with employers,” Brown said, adding that the county mayor’s office wanted to say thank you to “TCAT and the Chamber for the partnership and coming together to make it a successful job fair.”

Shannon Carroll and Heather Allen represented the Campbell County Health Department at Tuesday’s Health Care Job Fair held at TCAT Jacksboro.

“We want to thank President Petree and all of her staff at TCAT Jacksboro for being a great host, it went super thanks to them,” Brown said.

He, along with other organizers, said they hope to help local health-care employers recruit prospective employees. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/20/2025-6AM)
