Caryville native Jody Wright’s Fulton Falcons to play in 11th state title game with him as coach

MURFREESBORO, TN (WLAF)- Upperman’s Ty Cobb, Tennessee’s 3-A Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Tennessee player of the year, put on a show on Friday afternoon at the Glass House, MTSU’s Murphy Center. However, in a total team effort, the Fulton Falcons’ show had a happier ending, a win.

The 54-51 victory earned Fulton an 11th appearance in the state title game under head coach Jody Wright. Wright’s teams have won five state championships. Today’s 2:30pm ET opponent is a familiar foe to the Falcons, the Alcoa Tornadoes, 75-66 winners over Fulton at home on January 8.

Each team won state titles in 2023 and 2024, Fulton in 3-A, Alcoa in 2-A. This marks Alcoa’s fourth straight title game, first in 3-A, after losing last season’s championship contest. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/21/2026-6AM)
