LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The City of LaFollette Regional Planning Commission held its monthly meeting Thursday afternoon at City Hall.
First on the agenda, Clay Powers was wanting to subdivide a lot located at 206 Hillside Drive into three separate lots. The motion was approved. There are to be houses on the new lots.
Next, Brandon Johnson came before the commission seeking to use an empty, fenced lot at his location at 139 Weirwoods Drive for a new tow lot. He wants this to be included on the City’s list of tow lots and will meet any requirements needed. There was some discussion about tow lots being in a C-2 zone, which is where Johnson’s would be. According to LaFollette codes, they are not supposed to be in C-2s. However, Johnson had two instances from this year where tow lots were approved in C-2s by the commission. His request was approved.
Then, J. R. Kitts submitted a preliminary commercial site plan review. His property is located at 811 Jacksboro Pike. Kitts would like to build a new building. The commission members questioned if there could be two structures on the same lot. If the lot is sub-divided, the building would not be able to meet set back requirements. The commission voted to table this item to allow the surveyor, Tony Crutchfield, to discuss possible solutions with Kitts.
Lastly, John Edwards went before the board of zoning appeals with a variance request to build a garage on his property. Codes Officer Stuart Hurwitz recommended approval. The motion was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/24/2025-6AM)
