State Representative Dennis Powers hosts Dr. Charles Parker

NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – On Thursday, April 11, State Rep. Dennis Powers hosted the Chaplin of the Day on the House Floor of the Tennessee House of Representatives.  His guest Chaplin was Dr. Charles Parker, former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro.

Before Parker offered a prayer for the Legislature, he spoke about getting along with others and how much we more we can learn from others we disagree with than from those we agree with on every issue.

He also spoke of the time Powers and his wife, Tracy, helped out every summer at Elk Valley Baptist Church with Bible school while he was pastor. Parker was the pastor of First Baptist Church in Jacksboro from 1995-2002.  He and his wife, Barbara, now reside in Antioch near many of their family members. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/12/2024-8AM)
