JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commission and County Mayor Jack Lynch recognized two locals as the Morristown Marine Tournament Trail winners.

Fishing partners Riley Faulkner and Mason Phillips were honored on Monday evening for winning the tournament held on Cherokee Lake on March 7.

Faulkner and Phillips won the tournament with a winning weight of 16.8 pounds out of 226 two-man teams on the lake.

“Faulkner and Phillips showed great sportsmanship and teamwork during the tournament. They are being recognized for their exceptional fishing skills and teamwork,” Lynch said, congratulating the pair for its win.

Faulkner said the pair has another fishing tournament this week in Claiborne County and one coming up at the White Bridge.

“Thank you all for this and hopefully we can do it again,” Faulkner said.

Commissioner Rusty Orick said, “they were dedicated and that he hoped they would be a guide for the other youngsters in the area.”

“I have known these two boys a long time, you talk about being dedicated. Sometimes we get dedicated to the wrong things, but you two have your head on straight …we appreciate what you are doing and hope you will be a guide for other youngsters around here,” Orick said.
