Low humidity, gusty winds lead to elevated fire danger Sunday afternoon and evening

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- At 4:29, Saturday afternoon, firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service were dispatched to Pinecrest Road for a report of a brush fire out of control.
Upon arrival, crews found a very fast moving fire that was headed toward multiple structures. Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it reached any structures. Mutual aid was provided by the Jacksboro Fire Department and the Tennessee Division of Forestry. The fire was contained to around 2 acres.

Also on Saturday, firefighting crews were dispatched at 4:38pm to a report of a brush fire on Racetrack Hollow. Crews were able to contain that fire quickly with no damage to any structures as well.

The wildfire that’s been burning for more than a week in southwest Campbell County off Old Highway 63 outside Caryville is 100% contained and categorized as controlled.
