
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Tuesday afternoon the LaFollette City Council completed its monthly meeting in about ten minutes.
Three promotions were approved at the meeting. There was the promotion of Jonthan Norris to a full-time entry level firefighter with EMT-A effective April 18, the promoting of Robert Cobb to a full time sergeant with the police department effective April 18 and Tim Huckaby was promoted to a full time laborer in the recreation department effective April 18.
Amending the job description from exempt to non-exempt status to assistant fire chief and fire captains regarding EMR, EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B and paramedic status was approved.
An event permit for The Walk for Victims Rights at Seargeant’s Park on April 22 starting at 5 pm and ending at 9 pm was approved. At the previous month’s workshop, the council approved for the LaFollette Methodist Church to host a Cross Walk on Good Friday, April 3, at 3pm. However, for record keeping, the council had to ratify the vote at yesterday’s meeting.
The council approved for City Administrator Stan Foust to apply for an Outdoors Public Gathering grant for the Tank Springs Area. The grant has a $25,000 maximum and is funded at 100%.
A surplus property list was approved by the council. The list contains three items, a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, a 1998 Ford F350 Super Duty XLT and the clock that was removed from East Central Avenue. The items will be listed on Govdeals.com.
Ordinance 2026-02 amending the City of LaFollette Code with respect to waste disposal from construction, demolition, and repairs to property had a first reading. The ordinance requires contractors to have a dumpster and a port-a-potty on site. Resolution 2026-04 amending the 2025-26 budget was approved. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/08/2026-6AM)
