JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A female arrested by La Follette Police on Wednesday afternoon was transported to the Campbell County Jail, and before she could be booked, she needed medical attention. “The jail had not taken possession of the person we arrested, and our officer called for the ambulance,” said LPD Chief Steve Wallen.
“We were called to a business in La Follette about a woman who had been standing in an aisle for about an hour. It was discovered that she had an active warrant, and she was arrested,” said LPD Sergeant Noah Riggs.
It was suspected the female had ingested drugs, and 16-18 grams of meth was taken from her, according to the sergeant.
“I don’t want the sheriff (Wayne Barton) to be taking heat over this. We brought her to jail, and she was likely overdosing when we brought her there,” said Wallen.
Campbell County EMS transported the patient to the La Follette Medical Center. Later Wednesday, she was airlifted to Tennova North Medical Center.
