CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Friends of Campbell County Animals (FCCA) recently hosted a Community Cat Program Town Hall at the Campbell County Animal Shelter to share information and answer questions about its newly launched Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return Program (TNVR Program).
This program is designed to provide a humane approach to cat overpopulation, reduce nuisance behaviors, and keep cats out of the shelter. This workshop was hosted by Best Friends Animal Society to help FCCA and the Campbell County community to help address the growing community cat issues being experienced in various areas throughout the county. The program has been successfully implemented by Best Friends and many other national and municipal shelter organizations across the country.
“We were very pleased with the attendance at this town hall session with 16 concerned citizens attending, and even more tuning into a Facebook live stream” said Patricia Siwinski, Shelter Director. Siwinski continued “The overpopulation of cats in a community problem and FCCA is working with the community to find successful long-term solutions with local residents.”
Best Friends Animal Society is assisting in developing the program for the community and offers funding, training and other support to ensure a successful program and at no cost to the animal shelter. This program focuses on the underlying problem of community cats not being spayed / neutered, addresses nuisance problems that expanding cat colonies create, works with caregivers to ensure healthy, manageable populations, prevents community cats from entering the already overflowing animal shelter, and is aligned with the Campbell County Animal Ordinance.
Anyone interested in participating in this program should contact the Campbell County Animal Shelter at (423) 566-8018. FCCA is also looking for volunteers to help expand the program’s reach, as well as fosters, adopters, and donors. Please call or visit the website at fccanimals.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
